Try a different cable. From what you've said it's the only thing you haven't swapped out.

Could be, especially if it's the only thing common to all the setups you've tried.

Exactly what do you mean by "not smooth"? Is the animation jerky? Are there graphic artifacts?

Alternatively, you could just upgrade the clone (external drive) to Lion, leaving the main drive (inside the machine) on SL, since the OP says they intend to continue using mainly SL. Then plug in the...

It could be that it synced to another machine, which added some metadata to it automatically, then synced back to your machine, so it looks to Photoshop as if it's changed, when only the file's...
View ArticleComment by Vickash on If I use LaunchBar can I disable Spotlight?
You're right. I used mdutil to disable indexing for a drive, but let LB continue to index it while moving some files around. It picked up the changes, but was missing most of the metadata. So I guess...

launchd is definitely the recommended way to go. I like Lingon (peterborgapps.com/lingon/index.html) for setting up the tasks. Easier than messing with plist files.

Also make sure you get the right one for your system. Some of the earlier Intel Mac laptops used IDE for the optical drives, and at some point they switched to SATA, which uses a different cable. I...

Spotlight should index aliases but not symlinks. What you've shown is consistent with that, so the error message when trying to launch an app is puzzling. If you have Spotlight turned off for the other...

You're right. I meant to say 4,2. In his original post he says "Late 2008". If System Information shows that, then definitely 4,2. 4,1 and 4,2 are both virtually the same machine anyway.
